Correction And Retraction
Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy
Alamtara: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam (published by Universitas Tarbiyatut Tholabah) is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and high quality of scholarly publishing. This policy outlines the procedures for handling corrections, retractions, and manuscript withdrawals, adhering to guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), SINTA accreditation standards, and national publication regulations.
A. Policy Objectives
- To safeguard the authenticity and quality of articles published in Alamtara.
- To protect readers, researchers, and the academic community from misleading or unverified data.
- To ensure a transparent, fair, and objective editorial process.
- To preserve the permanent scholarly record under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
B. Article Correction Policy
If minor or non-fatal errors are identified in a published article that do not invalidate its main scientific conclusions, Alamtara will issue a formal correction without withdrawing the publication:
- Erratum / Corrigendum: Published for formatting mistakes, typographical errors, author affiliation/name misspellings, or minor data oversights.
- Procedure: A correction notice will be published online, linked directly to the original article, specifying the exact changes made.
C. Article Retraction Policy
Retraction is the formal removal of a published article due to severe academic misconduct or fatal scientific errors. An article may be retracted if:
- Significant plagiarism or duplicate/redundant publication is proven.
- Severe breach of the journal's AI Tools Usage Policy occurs (e.g., undisclosed generative AI text exceeding the 20% threshold, AI-generated data fabrication, or fake citations).
- Data falsification, re-engineering of findings, or violation of ethical clearance standards occurs.
- Fatal methodology errors invalidate the study's conclusions.
Retraction Workflow:
- The Editor-in-Chief conducts a formal inquiry upon receiving a verified complaint or finding via peer review/post-publication discussion.
- The editorial team requests written clarification from the authors within a specified deadline.
- If misconduct is proven, a formal Retraction Statement is published, detailing the author names, article title, and grounds for retraction.
- To preserve the scholarly record, the original PDF remains accessible on the website but will bear a prominent "RETRACTED" watermark on every page.
D. Manuscript Withdrawal Policy
Withdrawal refers to an author's request to cancel a manuscript prior to publication.
- Permissible Conditions: Authors discover a fundamental data flaw before peer review completes, or during early review stages, accompanied by a valid explanation.
- Unacceptable Withdrawal: Withdrawing a manuscript after acceptance/Letter of Acceptance (LoA) issuance simply to submit it elsewhere is strictly prohibited.
- Sanctions for Improper Withdrawal: Authors who improperly withdraw a manuscript post-acceptance may face a temporary submission ban to Alamtara for up to 2 years.
All formal requests for correction, retraction, or withdrawal must be addressed in writing to the Editor-in-Chief of Alamtara via official journal correspondence.
