Conflict of Interest Policy
Conflict of Interest Policy
Alamtara: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam (Alamtara), published by Universitas Tarbiyatut Tholabah, requires all participants in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, and editors—to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the objectivity, integrity, or scientific validity of the research, in alignment with standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The guiding principle is: when in doubt, disclose.
Scope of Conflicts of Interest
Conflicts of interest may arise from financial or non-financial relationships, including:
- Financial Interests: Research grants, honoraria, employment, consulting fees, or commercial sponsorship related to the study or its subject matter.
- Non-Financial Interests: Personal or family relationships, shared institutional affiliations, political ties, academic rivalries, or direct supervisory relationships with research participants or authors.
Guidelines for Authors
Authors must explicitly state any potential conflicts of interest upon manuscript submission. If no conflict exists, authors should include a statement: "The author(s) declare no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this manuscript." Furthermore, any utilization of external research funding or undisclosed AI tools must be declared in accordance with Alamtara's established policies.
Guidelines for Editors and Reviewers
- Reviewers: Must decline an invitation to review if they share the same institution, have collaborated within the past 3 years, or have personal/financial ties with the authors.
- Editors: Editors must recuse themselves from managing manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists. Manuscripts authored by Editorial Board members will be handled independently by an unconflicted editor through our standard double-blind review workflow.
Undisclosed Conflicts and Enforcement
Deliberate failure to disclose conflicts of interest constitutes a breach of publication ethics. If an undisclosed conflict is discovered, Alamtara will take appropriate action in accordance with our Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy, which may include publishing a Corrigendum notice, manuscript rejection, or formal article retraction.
